For someone who wants take part in one of the most authentic experiences in Lapland this tour is highly highly recommended!
Absolutely amazing! We were hosted by Alex & Tanya at their property for one of the best experiences we had during our trip to Rovaniemi.Alex collected us from our hotel in the city and drove us out to his family property were we were introduced to Tanya, his wife, who was so welcoming and genuinely seemed happy that we were there. We started with the wood burning sauna and when we were confident enough we embraced ice dipping in the families own lake. The snow as cold under foot on the way down to the lake (there were disposable slippers if you wanted them) and the frozen lake was SO cold but it was an amazing experiences and definitely got the heart going. We were in and out of the sauna and the lake a couple of times so we could fully experience this activity, and what an experience it was.Once we’re were finished we went up to the family ‘Kota’ where Tanya had prepared a light supper of traditional sausages, salad, homemade potato cakes and of course the obligatory hot berry juice (I really love the berry juice!). There were also cinnamon cookies for dessert if we wanted them. Alex & Tanya spent time with us talking to us about the area and all sorts of things, it was like being hosted by friends. This really was a well organised and professional excursion, run by two absolutely lovely people.Kiitos Alex and Tanya 🥰
Great traditional sauna with lakebath for activating all cells to the winterlife!!Great hosts Tanja and Alex, awesome sauna experience + crazy lake bath and good dinner.Recommendable 1000 % ❄️
Definitely one of the best activities during my trip to Finland. It is a challenging hike with highs and lows, and occasionally sliding down, fun guaranteed! There are 3 frozen waterfalls on the trail, which are extremely visible and which you can get close to if you have a good condition. Our guide Alex told various fun facts about nature and the waterfalls during the walk and is open to also taking pictures of his guests. At the last waterfall, you get some free time, while he walks a little further to light the fire and fry the sausages, very cozy! Highly recommended to see the natural beauty of Finland.
We have just had the most enjoyable evening with Alex and his wife, Tanya - two of the nicest people in Finland! We went In the evening when it was dark and were greeted by the most beautiful scenery, with fairy lights everywhere. The sauna was beautiful and to cool off you can pop into the lake for a few seconds and then back into the sauna, it’s cold but very enjoyable and an Lapland experience that should not be missed! After the Sauna we had a lovely dinner and Tanya and Alex told us all about the traditions of saunas and other facts about the countryside. 10/10 we could not recommend this enough!!
It was the best choice to do the wood burned sauna tour with Nordic Adventures Rovaniemi! Alex and Tanja are so nice people, we had the whole sauna for us, had a fantastic and romantic evening with a dip in the icecold lake! It was amazing! After that we had a very good dinner with finnish sausages, potatoe salad, homemade potatoe bread, berry tea and gingerbread cookies. After all we had a talk to Alex and Tanja about the nature and habbits in finland. We warmly recommend everyone to do this tour! Thank you for that special experience!
The hike was great fun - the scenery along the 5km hike was amazing. There were some parts that were a bit slippery but the 'problem' could be avoided by sitting & sliding down the path, which added to the fun. Alex was very nice, help and knowledgable. Appreciated the little BBQ we had by the campfire, with sausages, marshmallows and some glögi to recharge our energy before the last stretch of uphill hike back to the carpark. I would definitely recommend this tour with Alex!
Wonderful landscape all along the walk. The guide was very nice. Also, we appreciated the sausages next to the fire break. We loved the entire experience and highly recommend it!!
It was an incredible experience, a travel to repeat! Amazing hosts Tania and Alex. Culture and fun, only the norther lights were missing!
I didn’t think I could do it but I’m so glad I did because it really is a once in a life time experience when you’re not from Europe. I highly recommend booking this tour, our guides were so friendly and gave us amazing insights into Finnish culture.
